1992年的《女人香》（Scent of a Woman），有幾項經典的重要成就。其一，探戈配樂（出現於艾爾帕西諾飾Frank Slade中校之邀舞），剛好與《魔鬼大帝:真實謊言》（True Lies）出現的探戈一樣，後來由小提琴帕爾曼收錄在他的電影專輯裡（與John Williams合作），幾乎成為各大電影網站及BBS討論的經典題目。其二，顧名思義，電影與「女人」必有重大牽連。然而，片中女人的型塑，你可以說他是徹底的男性沙文主義再現，同時卻也是對女人的高度禮讚。有興趣的讀者，不妨讀讀本文擷取的第一段對話，十分erotic的描寫。
這段史雷德中校幻想女性美好軀體的囈語，從秀髮開始頌揚，絲絲撩人欲眠；朱唇方滴，如酒之醇。之後更進一步往私密處探究，這層層的交疊修辭，不禁使人想到英國詩人Andrew Marvell 的名詩《致其羞澀情人》（To His Coy Mistress）中對女人的讚揚與遐思:
An hundred years should go to praise
Thine eyes and on thy forehead gaze;
Two hundred to adore each breast,
But thirty thousand to the rest;
An age at least to every part,
And the last age should show your heart.

若非如此 我須不愛
兩者或隱諱，或直接描述對（女）「性」的美好憧憬。一前一後，雖隔了好幾個世紀，女人香不減反增，處處四溢。然而，在女人香之外，相對透露出的可能是一種男人的體味，在意識形態上再度形塑二元對立，陰柔陽剛的互濟之勢。抑或電影文本透過二元對立，衝突，解構與重構的過程，企圖找出跨性別的新觀點？不分男女，直接就「人」（Man , either man or woman and beyond ）論「人」。博德人（Bairdman）不必然留鬍子的人（Beardman），也不一定得喝剛烈啤酒（Beerman），更不須血性殺熊（Bearman），所有過時「男子漢」（manhood）的形象他都不須有。唯一的條件，成為（博德-）人的條件只是作為「人」的最終integrity。當片末查裡不願出賣朋友而自願當代罪羔羊時，校方委員會知其內情卻不聲援解難，反而步步進逼，落井下石，中校再也無法忍耐。本文選取的第二段對話，就是這段充滿人性光輝的發言。
